That is for you to decide, but there can’t be many roles where you will get to lead a planning service to deliver an agenda as ambitious as ours in Solihull.

Our UK Central growth strategy sets out how we are building on our existing economic strengths - which includes major assets like Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre, our central locational advantage and our high quality environment – to realise our potential for growth on a scale of national significance and take advantage of the arrival of the HS2 Interchange Station in a few years time.

But there is much to be done if we are to deliver this growth in a managed way. Following an ethos that promotes and encourages high quality, sustainable design and place-making, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership to guide our draft Local Plan through to adoption. You will engage with partners and communities to ensure we are delivering new development – whether that be urban extensions or new town centre schemes - that people aspire to live and work in and the Council can be proud of. We will also expect you to ensure we are giving customers a great experience. You will be delivery focused and drive forward commercial opportunities by using innovation to challenge the norm.
